We are passionate about creating a diverse and inclusive workforce, representative of the communities we serve. It’s our people who put heart into everyone’s journey and it’s our people that make travelling with LNER a memorable experience for our customers.
Making adjustments to our process
If there is anything that we can do to make the application process more comfortable for you, then please let us know on your application. We welcome applicants with disabilities and neurodiverse conditions and will ensure extra support wherever it is requested. We understand that everyone is different – after all, this is what we love about working in a people centric business – and will look at each person’s request individually.
The following are some examples of the ways in which we can make adjustments to our process, but this list is not exhaustive so, please just ask if there is anything we can do for you.
- We can provide more information about the process and what it entails
- We can ensure that interviews are undertaken in more accessible locations
- We can provide images of the interview locations and room layouts, so candidates can visualise the environment ahead of the meeting
- We allow candidates to bring written notes or other aides into their interview
- We can supply some of the interview questions in advance to help candidates prepare
- We can make additional time available for interviews and assessments
- We can provide documents in different formats
Please note that we will never ask for proof of a disability of a neurodivergent condition, we want everyone to have an equal opportunity to join us and therefore this is always about trying to make our processes as accessible and as comfortable for you as possible.
Some of our psychometric testing is done in a controlled environment, which can include some timed exercises. If you would like us to make some changes to the way that we undertake your test to make it more accessible, then please discuss this with us during the recruitment process.
If you successfully get through our selection process, before joining LNER, you will have a medical assessment with one of our Health and Wellbeing team and/or a drugs and alcohol test. Our team of trained medical advisors will also discuss any support requirements that you may have to enable you to be at your best in the workplace.
We are always keen for feedback and always strive to be better. If you feel we have missed something or we could have improved the experience for you, please complete our candidate survey that is circulated to all applicants, whether successful or not.
