Making adjustments to our process

If there's anything that we can do to make the application process more comfortable for you, then please let us know on your application. We welcome applicants with disabilities and neurodiverse conditions, and we'll make sure extra support is given wherever it's requested. We understand that everyone is different. After all, this is what we love about working in a people centric business and we'll look at each person’s request individually.

The following are some examples of the ways in which we can make adjustments to our process, but this list is not exhaustive. So, please just ask if there's anything we can do for you.

  • We can give you more information about the process and what it entails
  • Ensure that interviews are held in more accessible locations
  • Send you images of the interview locations and room layouts, so you can visualise the environment ahead of the meeting
  • You can bring written notes or other aides into your interview
  • We can supply some of the interview questions in advance to help you prepare
  • We can make additional time available for interviews and assessments
  • We can provide documents in different formats
Making adjustments to our process

Please note that we'll never ask for proof of a disability of a neurodivergent condition. We want everyone to have an equal opportunity to join us and therefore this is always about trying to make our processes as accessible and as comfortable for you as possible.

Some of our psychometric testing is done in a controlled environment, which can include some timed exercises. If you'd like us to make some changes to the way we undertake your test to make it more accessible, then please let us know during the recruitment process.

If you successfully get through our selection process, before joining LNER, you'll have a medical assessment with one of our Health and Wellbeing team and/or a drugs and alcohol test. Our team of trained medical advisors will also discuss any support requirements that you may have to enable you to be at your best in the workplace.

We're always keen for feedback and always strive to be better. If you feel we've missed something or we could have improved the experience for you, please complete our candidate survey that's circulated to all applicants, whether successful or not.
